Careers Leads from across the Titan network met at Aston University on Thursday 24th May for this term’s Skills, Employability and Careers Group meeting.
Parminder Garcha from the 14-19 Education and Skills Infrastructure Team at Birmingham City Council provided an update that included information on the September Guarantee return and the referral of potential NEET students to Birmingham Careers Service.
Tim Wilson from the Aston University Coding Club shared information on how schools can access support for their own coding clubs and Jemma Davis from BCU gave a demonstration on the newly launched website Speak to a Uni.
Tom Beckett from Access to the Creative Industries (formally Access to Music) gave some Labour Market Information on careers in the creative industries with a focus on Birmingham, and updated the group on the many full-time course opportunities they offer at their Digbeth site.
Lieutenant Commander Lynch and Sergeant John Perry from the Royal Navy Careers team provided information on their outreach activities for students and school engagement and CEIAG Co-ordinators had the opportunity to share some of the excellent work they have been doing in their schools.
FE/HE and Private Training Provider members provided updates for schools on their outreach activities and the group spent some time identifying those activities that have been successful this academic year in order to aid discussion and planning for next year.
