Professional Learning Community (PLC)

Forming a PLC is one of the most powerful ways to improve student performance.  PLC is a process in which there are three successful elements: focus on learning, collaborative culture and results-orientated thinking.  Titan Partnership are working to help schools establish effective Professional Learning Communities.

The school has to have a solid, shared mission, vision, values and goals; collaborative teams that can work interdependently to achieve common goals; and a focus on results as evidenced by a commitment to continuous improvement, and have  strong headteacher who empowers teachers to be leaders

What is a Community of Practice?

Complect is establishing a number of ‘Communities of Practice’ (COP’s) open to all schools accross the West Midlands.A COP is a group of like- minded people with an interest in a particular area of work. Through sharing ideas, strategies and thoughts on a regular basis across a number of people it has been proven, through research, to make significant impact overtime on school’s improvement and attainment.

Titan has now set up a number of Communities of Practice (CoPs) and a seperate website where members of CoPs can talk in group forums and upload documents and resources.  Please visit http://cops.titan.org.uk
