TEALS Workshop Programme

Titan Communities of Practice

Titan Partnership EAL Support – Workshop Prgramme

Improving provision and outcomes for learners of EAL.  The Workshop Programme will particularly focus on the challenges posed by newly-arrived learners of EAL within the context of a whole-school approach to improving outcomes.

What will a school get out of the programme?

Starting from a critical analysis of current policies and practice in your own school, the programme will encourage delegates to reflect on practice, identify strengths and weaknesses and develop a whole-school approach to supporting learners of EAL to improve outcomes.

Who is it for?

Participants should be members of SLT  or if delegated e.g. EAL Co-ordinator, SLT should support the delegate closely throughout the programme.

How will the programme work?

Working within a tested framework, the members of the group will explore support for EAL learners and develop policy and practice that will work in your own context.  The emphasis is on personal engagement with the process: from analysis and evaluation to the development of relevant and practical conclusions.  Delegates will be expected to prepare for programme meetings (and feedback to SLT after each meeting if appropriate).

How long is the programme?

The programme runs for five 3 hour sessions.

Is there any follow-up support?

Staff who complete the programme will be invited to join the Titan EAL Support Network (TEALS). TEALS members meet twice a term for further mutually supportive development work.
