Relevant Education Apps

Popplet Lite – iTunes  - Popplet is a fabulous find. It is an app that supports children working together and sharing ideas. When used in the classroom, this app can be used to mind map, aid writing planning, help to organise ideas or to support presentations. It is really intuitive, simple to use and looks great. It can be used on a PC or there is a free version for iPads called Popplet Lite.

Garageband – iTunes - Make music on the go and explore your musical potential with this great iPad/iPhone app. Garageband offers a range of instruments and a fully-featured recording studio.

Google Sky Map – Android Market. Google Sky Map turns your Android-powered device into a window on the night sky. This wonderful app is also available on iTunes for iOS devices.

Blanks – iTunes  Blanks’ is a simple application helping you to learn new words. It shows you word definition and gives 4 choices as answer. Select one of the choices by dragging it on the hole in the paper.

Audioboo – iTunes . Audioboo is an application for recording and sharing your voice with the world. The free version allows you to create audio up to 3 minutes in length and post that to your own account on the web.

Revision – iTunes. Revision App offers you over 5 million revision notes and flash cards, this alongside the following features make Revision App the Ultimate Revision Tool:• Massive choice: over 5 million revision notes/flash cards, • Allows group revision – you can share flash cards with you friends or study group, • Personalisable: you can create your own flash cards, • Measurable: you can track your progess , • Range of subjects: maths, science, French, etc, Age group: KS4.

Maths GCSE Revision – iTunes. Take control of your own KS4 maths revision on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. With 1200 unique multiple-choice questions under 60 maths topics. Perfect timing for the December /January exam season. Price = £1.49.

The Elements – iTunes. This is a visually stunning experience of the periodic table of all known elements. If you think you’ve seen the periodic table, think again.

Beatwave – iTunes . Have fun creating beats and tunes without any music ability! Using just your finger, choose from a range of instrument samples to build up your own sound. Beatwave is free for the iPhone or iPad, but further samples and features can be purchased.

Number Line – iTunes . Number Line is an educational game app to help students learn about fractions, decimals, and percents by ordering equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents on a number line.

NASA App – iTunes. Explore with NASA and discover a huge collection of stunning images, videos, mission information, news, NASA TV and featured content with the new NASA App for Android, iPhone or iPad.

Ted – iTunes - TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) presents talks from some of the world’s most fascinating people: education radicals, tech geniuses, medical mavericks, business gurus and music legends. Find more than 900 TEDTalk videos (with more added each week) on the official TED app – available for Android, iPad and iPhone.

HowStuffWorks – Android Market - The free HowStuffWorks app not only gives you instant access to a massive collection of articles and podcasts right on your Android device, iPhone or iPad, but also gives you direct access to their podcasters and HowStuffWorks experts!

LHSee – Android Market - Scientists at the world’s biggest scientific experiment are trying to answer fundamental questions about the nature of the universe, the origin of mass, and structure of space and time. LHSee makes the Hadron Collider accessible to anybody with an Android smartphone or tablet PC.
