On Tuesday 27th November Primary Head Teachers from across the network met at Lozells Junior and Infant School for their final meeting of 2018.
Attendees received updates from Primary Forum, via our network representative Janet Edwards, and space was given to discuss updates on Ofsted related matters, led by Sue Hughes. Heads were then given the opportunity to discuss current CPD offers and research projects on offer to them through Titan.
Updates were provided on the current KS1 and KS2 moderation cycles scheduled and the fantastic opportunities currently available to schools such as Aston Olympians, the Careers & Skills Fair and various projects they can get involved with to enhance the curriculum in History and Science. Avnish Dhesi and Jess Merritt, Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher at Lozells also provided an overview on the use of social media and how it has been extremely helpful in promoting their school and encouraging parental engagement.
BEP provided an update on the wider curriculum work they are currently undertaking and asked schools to provide feedback as to the support and activities they feel will be of most benefit going forward.
Barrie Hodge, Head of Communications and Fundraising at St. Basils then provided input regarding the learning resource pack that has been developed for primary schools which is part of a campaign to raise awareness about the plight of children and young people facing homelessness issues. The learning resource aims to help children better understand issues around homelessness that may affect them, their families and their friends.
