The first Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Taskforce meeting took place on Thursday 14th February at the Titan offices. Deputy Headteachers requested this meeting in order to make Year 6 to Year 7 transition as effective as possible and to look at efficiencies and improvements that can be made to the transition process across the Titan network.
21 colleagues from both primary and secondary schools attended the meeting to begin initial talks and strategic planning.
Colleagues were given the opportunity to share their current transition plans and to identify what they feel works well in their schools regarding the transition process.
Tosin Gabriel, Vice Principal at James Brindley School, provided an overview of mental health challenges and the approach James Brindley takes to transition support and the ways in which schools can adapt this support in their own settings.
The group then took time to begin planning transition projects across KS2 and KS3 and identified the need for sub-groups in specialised areas.
The next meeting will be in September/October 2019. If you would like to attend please contact us.
