Cross the Commonwealth Challenge
The 15th annual Aston Olympians sports event was due to take place in June 2020 with 480 Year 5 pupils from 14 schools in our network scheduled to take part. Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 crisis, this event has been cancelled.
Here at Titan, we want to ensure that your pupils don’t miss out, so we are offering a virtual alternative.
The Cross the Commonwealth Challenge is a five-day virtual interactive challenge available to all your pupils across year groups. Ahead of the Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham in 2022 and underpinning the sports focus of Aston Olympians, the Cross the Commonwealth Challenge asks your pupils to step the width of all 54 Commonwealth Countries.
How it Works
We’ve measured each of the Commonwealth countries at their widest point from East to West and have calculated the distance to cross all 54 countries at 17,673 miles. We are asking your pupils to complete activities equal to 8,836 steps (1 step = 2miles) across the five days by completing exercises with high step counts and making their way through different countries each day.
For five days, starting on Monday 6th July, Titan will provide you with an instructional video and a new set of activities and fun facts about the countries being ‘crossed’ that day.
Don't worry if you and your pupils can't take part next week, these videos and resources are available for you to use for the next 12 months.
