Skills, Enterprise, Employability and Careers Group
The Skills and Careers group held a virtual meeting on Tuesday 28th April which was well attended by our members. Our partner Training Providers, Universities and Colleges gave useful updates on how they are adapting their recruitment and interview processes during this challenging time. Whilst their doors are closed to the public, Colleges and Training Providers are still very actively supporting young people in their transition from school to College or Apprenticeships through online applications and follow up telephone discussions and advice sessions. Our partner Universities are also hosting online webinars and virtual Open Days for 6th form students.
The group discussed the challenges of connecting with students whilst they are out of school and shared hints and tips on how to support their school leavers. The collection of destinations is a particular challenge and guidance is being sought from the Local Authority 14-19 team on how to do this most effectively at this difficult time.
Everyone agreed that the opportunity to connect virtually with each other was extremely beneficial and we have agreed to host an additional, interim meeting before the final meeting of the academic year (planned for 7th July). This informal, interim meeting will be held on Wednesday 3rd June. For further details, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
